COVID-19 (Wuhan) is a new strain of the Corona Viruses that was initially discovered in Huabei Province in China. Today, the virus has been spread across the globe and has been declared a pandemic by the WHO. As described by the CDC, there is no vaccine against this virus or effect treatment. Therefore, cleaning and disinfection of high touch surfaces daily is the best practice for prevention and containment of COVID-19.
Unfortunately, the currently used alcohol-based disinfectants are only effective against bacteria but not spores or viruses. Consequently, Prof. Sarfaraz K Niazi developed an advanced sanitizer that has been proven to kill the COVID-19 virus instantly. The viricidal tests were conducted indecently in the US and Glasgow with a certificate of analysis showing the ability to kill the virus in seconds.
Prof. Niazi is the world’s most prolific solo inventor of pharmaceutical patents with more than 100 US patents on pharmaceuticals in various therapeutic segments. He has written more than 70 books and developed more than 3000 formulations which he has generously donated to DEI BioPharma to help Uganda become self-sufficient in essential medicines. He is an advisor to all major regulatory agencies such as FDA, EMA, WHO, and all governments in the developed world. He helped President Barack Obama to design the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care).
Recently, Prof. Sarfaraz Niazi was in Uganda as part of the main consultant steering the setting up DEI Biopharma, the largest GMP pharmaceutical company in the whole of Africa. This company will produce world class medicines and will be approved by FDA, EMA and WHO. Prof. Niazi is helping with the design, construction and validation of DEI Biopharma, the first research-based pharmaceutical company in Uganda.
During his visit, he met with H.E the president of Uganda and the speaker of parliament, and he donated his patented anti-COVID19 disinfectant to Uganda. Through his Chicago-based company, Prof. Niazi has transferred the technology to manufacture this disinfectant to Uganda through DEI Biopharma. CovaNil® is the brand name of this highly effective disinfectant which is now being manufactured by DEI Biopharma at its premises in Luzira.
The product is remarkably safe and can be applied on hands and surfaces without any health risks. The plan is to massively produce and distribute this critically needed product to stop the spread of COVID-19 all over the country.
